About Us

Data Monitoring Services (DMS) is a division of Maxgaming NSW Pty Ltd.

History
In 1998, Tab Limited was granted an exclusive licence for a period of fifteen years by the New South Wales (NSW) Government to operate a Centralised Monitoring System (CMS) on all gaming machines in clubs and hotels (venues) throughout the state.

In 1999, Tab Limited created the division of DMS to develop the CMS, and ensure the integrity and security of the data collected.

In 2004, Tab Limited was acquired by TabCorp Holdings Limited. On 1 January 2005, TabCorp Holdings Limited divested the gaming division of Tab Limited to UNiTAB Limited. The company, Maxgaming NSW Pty Ltd, was established by UNiTAB Limited and DMS became a division of this entity.

In Oct 2006, UNiTAB Limited became part of Tattersall's Limited as a result of a merger of both companies.

The CMS provides a daily data stream of information from all gaming machines across the state to a central host computer.

DMS Operations
DMS is responsible for all operations of the CMS, including the collection and assessment of metered data and integrity events produced by the CMS to calculate the amount of gaming tax payable by each venue in NSW.

On 1 December 2001 (for clubs) and 1 January 2002 (for hotels), the CMS began actively monitoring all gaming machines across NSW for the purposes of tax assessment.

The CMS replaces the manual reporting system previously performed by venues.

All clubs and hotels incur a monthly monitoring fee of $35.35 (plus GST) for each gaming machine authorised for their venue. The Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART) have determined this fee.

DMS also manages the administration of Quickchange, an efficient and cost effective online tool for submitting gaming machine changes to the Office of Liquor, Gaming and Racing (OLGR).

Based at Maxgaming NSW Pty Ltd's head office in Ultimo NSW, DMS employs over 30 people.
